From Black Canyon we drove to Grand Junction and stayed for 2 nights. The car was due for regular service and we had some other house keeping things to do before our long stretches of dry camping in Utah. One afternoon we went to Colorado National Monument.
I don’t remember who mentioned this NM to me but I had kept it in the back of mind as a place that was recommended. I’m so glad we decided to go! We did part of the scenic drive through the monument to the visitors center. Across the street from the visitors center was an easy nature walk. We walked that all the way to the end with the help of the informational brochure. The wildflowers were starting to bloom and it was a lovely walk, especially since we were still getting our stamina back from having covid.
We drove around the campground to the window rock overlook and walked to that as well. The views from there were beautiful. If we had all been feeling 100%, this would’ve been an excellent area to explore more.
