Our route took us to Manchester, Burlington, and Stowe, VT. We stayed 2 nights in each location. We stayed in the Green Mountains northeast of Manchester the first 2 nights in Vermont. It was a beautiful campground in the woods where we were very secluded. It was nice getting out of urban, packed rv campgrounds for a couple days. Manchester is a small town. We went to a bookstore for a bit, but the Pinball arcade We were hoping to go to was closed the day we were there. We traveled north a bit out of town and found a family fun center where the kids got to jump on an inflatable for a while.
Next we drove up to Burlington, stopping at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company on the way. We did the tour of the factory which was so cute, and then I had the hard decision of picking a friend. I chose the fox (which is apparently super popular), and named him Jamie Fox. Our campground in Burlington was eight on Lake Champlain. We hiked along the coast at Red Rocks park, and then went into town for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and then checked out the different shops.
Our last stop in Vermont was Stowe. We stayed at Elmore State Park just outside of Stowe. Unfortunately both kids and Andrew came down with some sort of cold (Covid negative) while in Stowe so we weren’t able to do a whole lot. We attempted to visit the Trapp Family Lodge but didn’t get very far before Ben felt super sick. James and I went into the bakery and got some maple leaf cookies along with a spritz cookie, croissant, and sandwich. Later we found a shop and got some maple cream and syrup to buy. We also managed to get in a short 1.5 mile hike (Moss Glen Falls) to a waterfall. Stowe is a really cute town with bike trails, and a “quiet path.” We got some delicious calzones and pasta here as well.
We loved the beauty of the Green Mountains and all the maple sugar products, cheese, Ben & Jerry’s, and the cute towns of Vermont.
