National Park Recap: Arches National Park

We found one of the last available campsites in a BLM campground just south of the NP. It was $20 a night for dry camping but there was a pit toilet and the view out our windows was of the south side of the Park. Couldn’t have asked for better views.

We scored 2 separate day pass reservations to the park so we knew we weren’t going to try and fit it all in on one day. We were thankful the line to get in wasn’t very long in the morning when we arrived. We got our Jr Ranger books at the visitor center and asked about some kid friendly hikes. The kids loved double Arch (Ben in particular is a big fan or arches after visiting Gateway Arch).

We saved the hike to Delicate Arch for day 2 and spent day 1 doing shorter easy hikes. When we came to Arches when the kids were 1 and 3, it was also very hot, and we didn’t feel up for hiking that far with kids on our backs. The weather this time was beautiful and a cool and perfect for the 3 mile hike. We had an early lunch at the top and headed back down. We found a fun park in Moab for the kids to play at. While the kids were at the playground, Andrew and I took turns getting showered at the public aquatic center next door.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Desert Bistro that night.
