Travel Recap: Goblin Valley State Park

We had been hearing from many sources that Goblin Valley is great for kids. Those sources were 100% accurate! The Valley of Goblins is one big open space with no trails. You can walk and climb anywhere you please as long as you stay off any biological soil crust and delicate goblins. The kids had a blast exploring and climbing.

Our second day at the park we decided to hike to Goblin’s Lair. This was around 3 miles round trip plus a big climb up and over an old rock fall to get into the cave. The hike itself was very exposed. It was a bit warm and the kids revolted a few times. We were rewarded with a fun rock scramble into the cave that the kids enjoyed.

We stayed just outside the park for free in a BLM campground. The campground was perfect. Plenty of room. We snagged a spot with a picnic table and fire pit, and there was a pit toilet plus big picnic shelters. Also, bonus, tons of sun for our solar panels. The campground only had a handful of other campers for most of our stay but got very busy Saturday night.
