FAQ

We’ve gotten a ton of questions from friends, family, and co-workers. I’ve summarized a bunch of them below.

I also want to thank everyone for all their kind words and support as we begin our journey. Thank you!

How are you getting around?

We are towing a 2017 Forest River Sonoma 167bh Freedom Edition trailer (specs) with a VW Touareg TDI. It has everything we need and want, including beds, toilet, shower, sink, stove, oven, fridge, and a dining table. When we’re plugged in, there’s even a microwave, stereo, and small TV.

Where are you going?

We have taken previous camping trips to Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Arizona. This time we’re going counter-clockwise around the USA, visiting National Parks and Monuments, State Parks, friends, and family along the way. Here is a rough outline of the places we’d like to see:

Take 2! Since we are leaving at a different time of year than we did last year before COVID messed everything up, we are taking a completely different route than we originally planned. We’ll try to update the map below. Currently we’re traveling north through California up to the Cascades before heading East along the Canadian border and around the Great Lakes area and Midwest going around the US clockwise. We’ll make our way down the east coast to Florida by Christmas of this year. We’ll reevaluate what to do and where to go from there a bit later this year depending on how the summer goes.

Whoa! This is going to take awhile.

How long will you be gone?

As long as it takes! If everything goes well, we’re planning on 9-12 months until we settle back into our home.

What are you doing with your house?

We will have a friend renting our house for now and taking care of the cat.

Are you taking your kids?

Yes. And if they behave, we’ll keep them with us, too!

We will be road-schooling so the kiddos stay challenged on our journey.

This sounds awesome! Can I come too?

Let us know if you want to meet up anywhere along our route! Also, please follow along as we post updates from our trip here and on Instagram.
