hat road trip to Florida would be complete without some time spent in Orlando having fun? We’ve spent over a week outside of Orlando going to the theme parks. We decided to stay a couple extra days where we’re at to chill a bit, get some housekeeping stuff taken care of, etc.
Our first park was Universal Studios. We did the main park (not Islands of Adventure) because it had the most rides our kids could ride due to height restrictions. We had a great time, especially in Diagon Alley and Nocturn Alley. Ben bought himself an interactive Elder Wand that we played with doing magic spells in the park. The park wasn’t too crowded so we were able to do everything we wanted to do with not terribly long lines. Universal was great for the interactive stuff that didn’t have a line at all (like the spell casting). Another great thing about Universal was the very conspicuous child swap waiting areas.
Our second park was Disney World Hollywood Studios. The park was way more crowded than we anticipated so we spent a lot of time waiting in lines. We had a great time on the Toy Story Mania though. It was definitely a highlight. At the end of the day we waited in line for Galaxy’s Edge and it was absolutely amazing. The kids both freaked out a bit and at one point or another thought we were really under attack. James was asking all sorts of questions about how they pulled off different special effects after.
Park 3 was Legoland (we took a rest day between each park). Legoland was empty and we had a great time. We walked straight on to almost every ride, and rode several rides more than once in a row. James actually tried two rollercoasters for the first time. Ben *loved* the rollercoasters and wanted to do them over and over. Both kids loved the big bins of Legos to play and build in.
