Travel Recap: Wild Country Safari Park

While staying at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, I happened to see this drive through safari Park (Wild Country Safari Park) on Google maps nearby. We didn’t have much else to do so we drove over on a cold and drizzly day. We were the only people to visit that day. Which meant the animals were very keen for some treats. We were warned the animals would steel our cups (especially the camels). The camels were waiting for us at the gate. And the donkeys were nearby waiting as well. The camels were super pushy, licking and biting the car, stalking us around for a long time. It was a bit stressful driving our own car through. I was worried about hurting the animals. We also wanted to see animals other than camels but the camels made it difficult at times.

It was an awesome experience, well worth the admission. The owners were super friendly and offered us extra feed for free, even showing us how best to feed the kangaroos and ostriches at the entrance. The bison and water buffalo were very gentle with the feeding and were so pretty. The kangaroos were especially cute so even the kids felt comfortable to feed them. Once Ben got comfortable with the kangaroos he fed some deer, alpacas, goats and bulls. James also had fun feeding the kangaroos, and goats. Andrew fell in love with the bison.
