Travel Recap: Upstate New York

We spent a week seeing upstate NY starting at Niagra Falls. We explored the overlooks and then rode the Maid of the Mist boat up to the falls. After we went and had lunch at the restaurant Above the Falls.

Next we went to Rochester and visited the Strong Museum. The Strong Museum is a must do if you’re in the area. It was jam packed with toy memorabilia, and arcade games. Ben was an expert token finder and ended up finding so many lost tokens he was able to play all sorts of games for free.

After Rochester we continued onto Syracuse and the Green Lakes State Park. The lakes in the state park are glacial lakes and a beautiful blue or green color. The campground itself was no frills but there was a decent playground. We hiked around one of the two lakes. We went into Syracuse and had lunch at Dinosaur BBQ (highly recommend).

From Syracuse we drove to Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ben got hungry during our visit, then parking police almost gave is a parking ticket and/or tow, so Ben and I (Liz) had to drive the trailer to a better parking area. We didn’t get a lot of time in the museum but Andrew and James had fun inside while we waited nearby with the trailer. Andrew said he could’ve spent several days looking at all the memorabilia inside. James did a special kid quest and got some free baseball cards! After our short visit to Cooperstown we continued to Vermont to stay the night.
